Morocco shocks Spain

After 120 minutes of an energy-sapping game, Morocco has triumphed over Spain through penalty kicks.
Morocco scored three good goals off the spot, raising the hope of soccer buffs in Africa, particularly in the Arab world.
What a match! It was a day that Spain showed dominance in ball possession, but a day that the Morrocan defence stood like a rock.

The Atlas Lions enter the history book as the second African country after Nigeria to defeat the European giants.
The Nigerians beat Spain 3-2 through penalties. Spain years after lost to Russia via penalty kicks four years later.
Scores after extra time stood at 0-0 despite efforts by the Spaniards to pick a win within regulation time.
Morocco’s keeper, excellent in goal and obviously the man of the match, frustrated the Spaniards, stopping two goal bound shots while the woodwork denied Spain twice within regulation time and a third time during the penalty shoot-out.
With the victory, Morocco moves into the round of eight, eyes firmly set on her next opponent while Spain would be packing her bags to leave Qatar for home.

Morocco is the only African side left in the ongoing World Cup in Qatar.
