Governor Nyesom Wike has taken a close look at himself and his performance in office as the curtain falls on the outgoing year and declared, “I have  represented Rivers people very well.”
Although Wike has been in the eye of the storm of late, especially as a result of utterances credited to him, the governor told  media practitioners in Port  Harcourt,  the Rivers State capital, that he was satisfied  with the enduring accomplishments of his administration.
The Rivers governor stressed his administration has touched several lives and impacted positively on the development of local communities since he assumed office.
“I have made Rivers people proud.  Rivers State is multi-ethnic and I have ensured all ethnic groups get the  dividends of democracy”, Wike claimed.
He said the Bayelsa State Governor   Seriake Dickson who was intent on invading Rivers State was free to visit other ethnic groups in Rivers State in order to see what a government can do for its people.
“Part of the representation of Rivers State is to protect what belongs to Rivers State”, Wike remarked.
He said his counterpart in Bayelsa has been unable to do so.
How can Dickson invade Rivers State when he cannot defend Bayelsa State?”, Wike queried.
He alleged that Dickson’s squandermania had resulted in the wasteful spending of N70 billion on what he referred to as a sham airport project.
Wike said in comparison that while most Bayrlsans groan due to the lost opportunities under Dickson, “Rivers people know that I have represented them very well.”
Views are however sharply divided in the oil rich state over the governor’s claims.
While some Rivers people agree with his assertion, a great majority of others do not believe Wike has done as much as he claims.
