Breaking news: How Nnaji asked for 5% of Nigeria Air
By PHC Telegraph
Outgone Minister of Aviation, Senator Sirika has disclosed how the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation approached him “to give him and his people” five percent of Nigeria Air.
The former Minister said on Arise News Sunday that he has a record of the request put before him by the House Committee Chair.
According to the former Minister whose arrest and prosecution has been largely canvassed, the media was free under the freedom of information act to ask for details.
He revealed that he had told Nnaji that he had no power as Minister to cede 5% of the airline to his people and himself.
Sirika in answer to a question put across by Reuben Abati further disclosed that he asked Nnaji who introduced the subject to discuss his proposal to reserve 5% of the ownership of Nigeria Air for ‘him and his people’ if they have the money to invest.
He denied that the plan to establish the national carrier was shrouded in secrecy as some commentators have suggested, saying that everything including the desire by investors to bid for the ownership of the airline was done transparently and in the open.
