Deborah Modupe Atanda found in shallow grave

The body of Deborah Modupe Atanda, a nursing student of the Department of Nursing at the Federal University, Oye in Ekiti State, who vanished mysteriously has been found.
It was found in a shallow grave at Oye Ekiti, her eyes plucked out and injuries inflicted on her skull by her assailants.
It is not clear who could have attacked her, but there are suspicions within the university community that ritualists may have stucked, abducted and killed her.

Earlier, students of the institution were asked to go home by the authorities in order to allow security operatives room to conduct thorough investigation
Initial investigations have however revealed that the mortal remains of the deceased was buried in a shallow grave.
Against this backdrop, the university has released a statement confirming news of Deborah’s unfortunate death.
It also asked the student community to remain calm and sent a message of condolence to the bereaved family.
The Registrar, Mufutau Ibrahim who signed the statement said, “It will be recalled that earlier today, the Management had made public the disturbing development” pertaining to the disappearance of the student and assured that investigation was ongoing “to unravel the whereabouts of the poor student.”
“But current information reaching the security outfit of the University has disclosed that the said student is dead.

“While the University Management condoles with the deceased family and the generality of the University community, particularly our dear students, the Management reiterated that investigation is still ongoing and this is being done in collaboration with national security agencies to get to the root of the sad development and bring to book the culprits.”
