Nwukes Mourn Nnamdi’s Departure

Members of the Nwuke family at home and abroad have been thrown into mourning, following the death of George Nnamdi Nwuke, one of the sons of the one-time Minister of Works in the defunct Eastern Region, Eze J.H.E Nwuke.
Nnamdi, a US citizen, died after a brief illness on the 9th of October at the age of 72. He has been buried at Denver in Colorado.
Born on May 22, 1952, Nnamdi attended County Grammar School, Ikwerre/Etche and later, Okrika Grammar School after the civil war which ended in 1970.
Thereafter, he left for the United States where he read Political Science and decided to settle down as a citizen.

Nnamdi was the 7th child of the late political icon who became the first black, after the British Union Jack was lowered to pave the way for Nigeria’s independence, to serve as the Provincial Commissioner of Port Harcourt Pronvince.
Until his death in 1970, Eze JHE Nwuke, a prominent member of the NCNC and Ogbuzo II of Okomoko, was the Onyeishi Etche.
