Shehu Sani Supports Daring Decision To Cancel Contract

Senator Shehu Sani has defended the decision of the Federal Government to cancel the six-year contract awarded to Julius Berger for the construction of the Abuja- Kaduna Road.
Sani who took to his handle on X said the Minister of Works, David Umahi acted in the national interest by terminating the job that the company has been handling.
Apparently, the Minister of Works had dared to act against the major construction giant where others before him had compromised.
Recall that the Minister had expressed dissatisfaction with the way the reputable had managed construction work
Umahi said the Federal Government could no longer tolerate Berger’s clumsy approach to the delivery of the project, saying the firm had failed repeatedly to fulfill its side of the bargain.
According to the Senator who represented Southern Kaduna, “The revocation of the N740Billion Kaduna-Abuja for ‘non performance.’ is long overdue.”
He said, “This is the first time in history a Works Minister can look at a giant and well connected company like Berger and send them packing.
“The initial cost of that project in 2018 was N155Billion.Six years wasted.Again,Kudos Umahi”, he added
