“You have shown so much support to us”, Fubara told the gathering, “Your prayers have kept us going.”
“I want to thank you specially for that, and to say that our government will continue to support this programme in this State.
“It is important to mention that prayers cannot be enough. So, continue to pray for us so that the purpose of governance will be achieved in this State”, Fubara asked the leaders of the church and the congregation.
Turning his attention to his place as the governor, he said it was God alone who had made him ruler over Rivers people.
“I was promoted by God first, through my party and the leaders. So, promotion comes from God and God alone”, the Governor stated.
His comment at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium tallied almost exactly with that made by Governor Peter Odili at a similar period of political unrest in the history of Rivers State.

Odili had told bigwigs of the PDP who claimed they made him governor before President Olusegun Obasanjo at the Civic Centre along Moscow Road that God, not them, made him governor.
Many Years after, Fubara gave credit for his rise to power to God and nobody else as differences between his predecessor and himself escalates.
This year’s theme of the Holy Ghost Rally was “Promotion for a purpose” and Fubara drew a close parallel between it and what is happening to his life.
“Let me take the theme of the rally to be a personal gift from RCCG because the theme is not different from my story.
“I have a thanksgiving in my place where I will return this wonderful success in thanksgiving to the only person (God) who will make it permanent and forever”, the Governor revealed.
“I want to say a big thank you to this family for your support, before, during and after our elections”, Fubara added.
Earlier, the Intercontinental Youth Pastor of RCCG, Belemina Obunge acknowledged the immense support RCCG had received from the state government.
He was delighted that the hosting of the rally has prophetically coincided with the birthday of Governor Fubara.
The Telegraph has gathered that a large crowd converged at Opobo Sunday for the birthday celebration of the Governor who was born in 1975.
Our Correspondent reports that the birthday festivities began with a thanksgiving service in the local church.
