Chief Mike Elechi, a businessman and chieftain of the PDP has explain-ed how he would have been crushed to death at Elele if the driver of a vehicle that brought the former governor of Rivers State, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike had adhered to the instruction of his master.
Elechi who narrated his experience during a house warming ceremony at the weekend attended by the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara recalled how he knelt down on the floor of a bus conveying Governor Nyesom Wike to appeal to him not to disgrace him before his people.
He narrated how Wike who came to his farmhouse after an event in Elele got angry and ordered VIP guests who came with him for a programme to leave with him.
“I knelt down in the bus and begged him (Wike) not to disgrace me before my people”, Elechi said, thanking Governor Fubara who came with some elders of the State for the house warming ceremony.
Elechi said he got off the bus and stood before the bus and asked the driver of the VIP vehicle to crush him to death.
He recalled that it was at that point that some VIPs who attended the political event persuaded Wike to disembark from the vehicle and return to Elechi’s home for light refreshments.
Elechi noted that he had nothing to do with whatever happened which forced Wike to storm out of his place.
“I had gone to bring choice drinks when the incident occurred”, Elechi narrated, saying Wike may have had a faceoff with some guests at the lone door leading to the house.
He remarked, “I told the driver that both of us would make news if he stepped on the pedal.”
He disclosed that the architects who built his newest residence provided several entry points into the building in order to avoid a repeat of what happened which changed the heart of Wike when he came to his place for a reception.
Thanking Fubara for honouring him, Elechi said he, his family and supporters would ever be grateful for his love and kind gesture.
Speaking, Governor Fubara commended Chief Mike Elechi for his gentle strides in business, industry and farming and urged him not to repent.
He acknowledged the good work done by the architects who designed the house and described the edifice as impressive.
Crowds of enthusiastic Ikwerre people who converged at Elele cheered the Governor and expressed their unalloyed support.
