Hundreds Of APC Aspirants Undergo Background Checks
• As State Governors, Elders of the party prepare to attend zonal caucus meetings
By PHC Telegraph

Hundreds of aspirants for NWC positions (National Chairman, Secretary, Organizing Secretary, etc.) have undergone rigorous background checks.
The Screening and Appeal Committee, led by Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State, has been operating out of the party’s National Secretariat.
Beyond constitutional requirements, the committee is reportedly looking for “party loyalty” and “grassroots appeal” to ensure the new leadership can withstand the heat of the 2027 election cycle.
Meanwhile, a small window was equally opened for those disqualified to make their case, ensuring that the process remains legally sound to avoid future litigations.
A secretariat staff member who spoke to a Telegraph Correspondent in Abuja under anonymous conditions remarked, “the party’s Screening Committee has done a good job despite pressures.
“It is an elective convention and the reason we are ready to go as a political party is because they properly executed their task.”
Today is day two. According to the itinerary drawn up by the party, zonal caucuses are expected to meet. In line with tradition, the zonal caucuses would be attended by State governors and party elders.

Insiders say the meetings at the zonal level are intended to finalize so-called “unity lists” that would be adopted as delegates prepare to vote.
Aspirants and their supporters have hit the ground running in their efforts to build alliances that would sustain their quest for office.
Chief Victor Giadom who is reportedly in the race is eyeing a key zonal office in the South South.
Our Correspondents report that much more people are pouring into Abuja daily as the APC prepared to make a statement.
They say the atmosphere in the Federal Capital is electric as well as exciting while the flow of traffic around some parts of Abuja’s Central Area has been reduced to a crawling pace.
This year’s APC National Convention is being held early. Insiders say it is proof of the party’s organisation and readiness for the 2027 presidential and state elections.
