It’s all over! Tinubu Picks Certificate of Return!!

President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and National Chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmud Yakubu after the former collected the Commission’s Certificate of Return.

President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress and his Vice, Kasim Shettima  have been presented with their Certificates of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The certificates of return were presented to the eventual winners of the 2023 presidential election by the National Chairman of the Commission, Professor Mahmud Yakubu.

Speaking for a second time since he was declared President elect, Tinubu urged national reconciliation and national unity, saying where people have raised temples of hate  it was time to erect monuments of peace.

“The battle has been hard fought but we won”, Tinubu remarked, but he spoke of the Nigerian youth who would someday aspire to leadership, the future of the woman and girl child who deserve equal opportunity and ethnic minorities who deserve the right to realize dreams to govern Nigeria.

The President-elect said he understood, the anger, anguish and frustration that some feel over the loss of their preferred candidates.

However Tinubu called for a shared vision, urged the people to lay the foundation “brick to brick” for the evolution of a new Nigeria.

He extended the olive twig to the presidential candidates of other political parties, saying the time has come to close ranks in the interest of the nation.

Tinubu who has swung into action to unite the nation across ethnic and religious lines emerged as Nigeria’s president-elect after garnering the highest number of votes cast urged his opponents to join him in the task of rebuilding and rebranding Nigeria.

The President-elect  beat Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, and Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP to become the new helmsman in waiting.
