Rivers leaders visit Tinubu

Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike led the delegation that visited the President

A delegation of Rivers leaders and elders has visited the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Abuja,  the federal capital.

The delegation was led by Governor Siminalayi Fubara who was accompanied by the Minister of the  Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike.

Details of the conversation between the President and members of the delegation which included leaders of thought such as senators, lawmakers, chiefs and members of the clergy as well as other top government functionaries are not yet known.

One insider told the Port Harcourt Telegraph in a chat that the atmosphere when both sides met was “conducive and friendly”.

It is believed that Rivers leaders were in Abuja to thank the President specifically for his kind disposition towards Rivers people which they acknowledged has resulted in the appointment of their sons into sensitive positions. 

It is also believed that the visit was intended to further strengthen existing ties between the Rivers people and the government at the centre.
