Ayo Fayose, former Governor of Ekiti State has been asked to tender an unreserved apology to the people of Northern Nigeria as a result of a comment that he made on live television.
Senator Shehu Sani who took to “X” to call Fayose out said his remark on Channels TV was not expected of a budding statesman.
He described the ex-governor’s comment on Channels TV as “contemptuous” and “unconscionable.”
“I suggest he should humbly withdraw it”, Sani advised Fayose who had criticised the number of children that poor families from the North are contributing to the population and economic instability of the nation.
“Even though Fayose spoke as an individual”, Sani said, “his reported statement on Northerners is contemptous and unconscionable.”
The Senator urged the controversial politician from the Southwest to quickly withdraw the comment that some netizens say is capable of promoting bigotry and “tender an apology as a Statesman.”
In another development, Senator Aminu Tambuwal gas attributed his victory in the last election in Sokoto State to God.
Fayose had described Tambuwal as a betrayer and a hypocrite, saying prior to voting, he wished the former governor would fail.
He had also referred to Tambuwal, one-time Speaker of the House of Representatives as a self centred man.
But Tambuwal denied Fayose’s claim that he is both a hypocrite and a betrayer, saying there is no proof suggesting that he (Aminu) has done anything against anyone.
He said that despite the wish of the former Ekiti governor, his people voted him to the Senate and wondered where in hell Fayose is.
Some netizens have criticised Fayose for his perceived reference to the Amajiris, a group of youngsters who are uncatered for by their biological parents while others have insisted Fayose’s comment did not contain falsehood
