● Says Trump may be smart, but introducing tariffs “is a very dump thing to do”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau whose country has been drawn needlessly into a face-off  with the United States says Canadians won’t back down.

President Donald Trump went ahead on Tuesday to impose tariffs as high as 25% on most Canadian goods.

The move has led to serious concerns across the world, with the Chinese and Mexican governments threatening a retaliation of their own.

In Ottawa, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau discussed the impending reaction of his administration, vowing Canada would place its own tariff on American products.

Admitting that this period may indeed be tough for ordinary Canadians, the Prime Minister who spoke shortly after Trump’s tariffs went into effect assured Canadian citizens that their government would defend Canadian jobs.

The Prime Minister who called the bluff of the US President said in a swift reaction that Canada “will not back down from a fight”.

“There is absolutely no justification or need whatsoever for these tariffs today,” Trudeau noted.

Speaking directly to Trump, Trudeau remarked, “Even though you’re a very smart guy, this is a very dumb thing to do.”

Trump will be addressing congress on the direction of his American First policy and also showcase in the process some of the gains that have been made under his watch.

Republican lawmakers are being booed by their constituents, following Trump’s failure to bring down prices.

It is doubtful that the introduction of tariffs on goods coming to the US would in any way push back spiralling costs.
