Fubara: Protection of Rivers lives, property top priority

Governor Siminalayi Joseph Fubara, security remains top priority of the Government of Rivers State.

 

The Government of Rivers State has pledged that it would step up its support to security agencies in a bid to ensure the overall safety of the people and the protection of their property.

To this end, goverment will provide vehicles as well as other logistic requirements which would enable all law enforcement agencies operating in the State to live up to their responsibility.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara who received a delegation of policemen from Zone 16 led by the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Ben Nebolisa Okolo on Thursday called for closer collaboration between the State Government and the security agencies.

The Governor said the existence of such cooperation between the State government and law enforcement groups would have a salutary impact on the promotion of peace and security across the entire State.

“We will continue to work in synergy with all security agencies in our State, to provide security as it is our priority to secure lives and property of citizens”, the governor noted.

Fubara re-emphasized  that the protection of human lives and property is a critical component of ongoing efforts to advance growth and development in the State.

The Governor observed that where peace and security are lacking, it would be difficult for any society to achieve meaning progress.

Assuring his visitors of his administration’s willingness to partner with them, Fubara noted that their cooperation in securing the lives and property of citizens would be highly required.

“We are already working out some logistics”, Fubara explained, “to ensure your effective operation.”

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, AIG Ben accompanied on the visit by the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Nwonyi Policap Emeka and other Police Officers From Zone Sixteen, said they were on the visit to congratulate the governor on his electoral victory.

He also express the determination of the Police to partner with the Rivers State Government to ensure that a proper security architecture is put in place.

The AIG commended the Rivers State Governor for his unalloyed commitment to the peace and security of the Rivers people.
