Labour’s slide into controversy, how the fight inside is shaping up

As the drama surrounding the future of the Labour Party unfolds and the infighting spreads, its leadership has levied allegations against the faction of the party that has apparently fallen out with its presidential candidate.

It is accusing the faction of plotting to destroy the integrity of the suit filed by Peter Obi, LP’s candidate in the last presidential election by creating rifts and unnecessary unrest within the party’s ranķ and file.

Tuesday, Obi’s friends in Labour said through the Acting National Publicity Secretary,  Pastor Obiora Ifoh that members of the faction who are working at cross purpose against the party were allegedly conspiring with the All Progressives Congress.

Ifoh hinted that the ploy by the faction was to aid the APC with its agenda to install the nation’s Presidential-elect, Bola Tinubu and truncate the matter filed by Obi.

In a suit filed before the Presidential Election Tribunal, Obi is claiming that he was robbed of victory at the just concluded polls.

Meanwhile, the leadership of LP that is loyal to Julius Abure has risen to the defence of Pastor Obiora Ifoh.

It said that his appointment as Acting National Publicity Secretary followed due process as enunciated by the party’s constitution.

Obi is all of a sudden faced by internal and external challenges.

Apart from the current row within the Labour Party, the candidate had questions to answer in the UK.

He was vigorously questioned by British Immigration authorities who are keeping mum at this time  and allowed to go.

Puzzled by reports that are gradually trickling in, most Nigerians are asking for explanations about the encounter Obi had with British Immigration in London.
