“I know that Polo is a game for matured minds”, Governor Siminalayi Fubara said in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital while speaking after flagging off an international polo tournament put together by the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA.

Acknowledging that it was his first time to attend an event at the Port Harcourt Polo Club, the Governor observed that the choice of the State as venue for the international event is proof of the fact that Rivers is the gateway to Nigeria’s evolving economy.

“This is my first time of coming to witness an event here”, Fubara who just returned from a meeting of the Braced Commission which held in Edo State remarked while talking to the press.

“Part of my plans to developing sports in this State”, Wike’s successor in office explained, “is to support” the development of “every facet of the sports unit.”

The Governor of Rivers State noted that the specific support given by his administration to sporting activities is helping investors to reap greater gains.

According to him, the 2024 international tournament organised by NPA Port Harcourt has turned out to be an event that has been facilitated by the economic opportunities made possible by his administration.

Fubara pledged that his administration will continue to pay vigorous attention to the development of all facets of sports in order to empower Rivers youths.

“There is one major thing about this event. It’s an event that brings people all over the world” the State Governor  stressed.

“It showcases the safety of the state and also an opportunity for investors to come into the state. For now, the state is a gateway to the big Nigerian economy”, Fubara added.

On arrival at the Port Harcourt Club, Governor Fubara who seemingly has his eyes on economic investments was met by its President, Mr. Ebie Diriyai.

The other day Fubara joined other Governors of the South South in Benin to discuss the future of the Braced Commission set up by Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Edo and Delta States to drive regional cooperation and regional development.

The Governors agreed to ask the Federal Government to funnel more funds to the geopolitical zone, agreed to act as a kind of pressure group to  ensure that power is further decentralized in the country, ad agreed to set up an economic unit that would plot the way forward and deepen the ties that bind the  people of the Braced States together.
