Afenifere backs nationwide protest

● Decries the way Dangote was treated by Tinubu administration officials

Afenifere, a pan-Yoruba group,  has come out in the open to support a planned nationwide protest.

The proposed protest which is attracting widespread attention is targeted against bad governance.

Speaking on the Morning Show broadcast by Arise Television, the publicity secretary of Afenifere, Justice Faloye said Thursday that the level of suffering and economic hardship being faced by the Nigerian people has become totally unacceptable .

Faloye called for the economic and political restructuring of the nation, stressing that the economic policies introduced by the Tinubu administration have compounded issues and worsened the plight of ordinary Nigerians.

The Afenifere condemned the attitude of the Federal Government towards the Dangote Group, saying it was unfair to treat someone who has invested heavily in the country the way it did.

It advised the government to be nationalistic, saying Nigerian officials are not expected to denigrate Nigerian products.

Cautioning government against sabotaging the efforts of investors, the pan-Yoruba movement added they (government) are “supposed to back them not throw hurdles on their way.”
