DELGA Chair: We’ll All Work Closely

Chairman of the Degema Local Government Area, Dr Agiriye Agba Harry has expressed his willingness to work closely with members of the legislative arm.
Addressing councillors from the area, Harry said that the local lawmakers bear a unique responsibility to work closely with one another and the executive arm in the interest of the people.
“We are going to work very closely”, the Council chairman promised, “I believe that we have a lot to work on for the benefit the LGA.”
“We should also try to avoid rancour”, he stressed, “so that we don’t start all these things about impeachment and we should work as a family.”
The Chairman, who spoke while inaugurating the 10th Degema legislative Assembly said the event has formally paved the way for the commencement of legislative activities.
At plenary, the Councillor representing Obuma Ward and Leader Pro tempore,Tammy Ombo Harry, presided over the election of principal officers.
Festus Ibigoni Dick representing Tombia Ward 7 was elected Leader of the House while Gaŕrick Idaeresin representing Ward 11 was elected Deputy Leader.
Tamunoemi Ombo Harry representing Ward 14 emerged as Leader Pro-Tempore, Soibi Alfred Lawson (Ward 6) as the Chip Whip and Funmi Omoi Ikiri (Ward 15) as Minority Whip.
The Clerk of the House, Mrs. Stella Georgewill, administered the oath of office.
