FUBARA: We Have A Lot To Do For Our People By Uke N Uke Governor Siminalayi Fubara has called for the emergence of a more proffessional and efficient civil service system. Such a system, the Governor said must be equally focused, responsive, effective and insulated from politics. Speaking while swearing in permanent secretaries on Tuesday, ,Fubara who rose through the ranks as a civil servant urged the newly promoted officers to avoid the temptation of allowing political considerations to affect the discharge of their duties. According to him, the new permanent secretaries were not chosen because they are merely lucky. ‘ The Governor observed that they were chosen because they are competent and trusted persons who could be relied on to take their ministries to new threshholds of service and performance. “It is not just being lucky to be among the ones that are chosen to be permanent secretaries at this critical time of our government but living up to it. “Know that it is not just an appointment, that after two or three months, your faces will start to change but to see it as a call to duty”, the State Governor remarked.   Charging them to offer constructive and effective leadership, Fubara promised that the State Government under his watch would do everything possible to provide workers with a conducive environment that is designed to enhance productivity. He said the goal of the civil service is to help the government of the day through its operations to fulfill promises made to the Rivers people to ensure their welfare and well-being are taken care of. “We have a lot to do for our people and your responsibility as permanent secretaries is so much. We have a lot of ministries that are not manned by adequate authority for a while now. “That is the reason why we have to appoint this number so that all the ministries will have administrative heads pending when they will have political heads.  So, we are doing this because we want to chart a proper course for this government”, the Governor disclosed. The governor ldirected the Head of the Rivers State Civil Service, Dr. George Nwaeke to hand over official cars to the 16 newly sworn-in permanent secretaries. Those sworn in as permanent secretaries include Hebron Wisdom, Dede Sampson Friday, Briggs Atemea Karibo, Nyempe Gregory, Ndah Emmanuel, Ngochindo James Epobari, Ishmael Tomonialadieokuma and Wakama Boma A. George. Others are Nweke Onyeche Kelvin, Okereuku Alwell Chinedum, Ndukue Patrick, Ichemati Maxwell Mbadiwe, Iwarilama-Brown Inyingi Sabina, Ogolo Maurice Eric, Kejeh Ruhuoma Chinedu and Jacob Fayeofori Francis.
