The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared Governor Hope Uzodinma winner of Saturday’s off cycle elections held in Imo State.

Uzodinma polled a total of 540,308 votes to secure a second term in office as governor on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which fielded Samuel Anyanwu as its governorship candidate came a distant second place with 71,503 while Achonu of the Labour Party bagged 64,081 to place third.

Announcing the outcome of the exercise, the State Returning Office and a Vice Chancellor of Federal University, Professor Fashima Abayomi declared Hope Uzodinma elected.

The Port Harcourt Telegraph reports that the margin of victory recorded by the APC candidate indeed suggests an overwhelming endorsement of his performance in office and his growing popularity among Imolites.
