Nigeria’s Super Eagles before a capacity crowd Saturday night zoomed into the quarter-final stage of the African Cup of Nations competition which is being played in Cote d’Ivoire.
The Eagles who looked quite dangerous in attack defeated the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon by two goals to zero.
Nigeria’s two goals came off the boot of Lookman who with the support of Victor Osinmhen shone like a million stars.
What a match!

Nigeria began the hunt for a winner early in the first half, seizing possession most of the time, controlling the midfield, choking the defence and delivering passes upfront.
Upfront, Victor Osimhen, Alex Iwobi, Ademola Lookman and others repeatedly tormented the Lions and entertained the fans with their skillful runs.
Their effort paid off, but the resultant goal which came through a goal-mouth scramble was disallowed.
It was Nigeria who would find the back of the net before the half time whistle.
An Osimhen pass at the edge of the 18-yard found onrushing Lookman who slipped the ball past the Cameroonian keeper for the curtain raiser.
Midway into the second half Nwabali, Nigeria’s goalkeeper who has conceded only a goal throughout the entire tournament was stretchered out of the field after a player ramped into him in the second half.
With time ticking and the Cameroonians struggling for an equaliser, the Super Eagles on a day that they were super and deadly clinched the final goal.

It was game over for the Lions who could not get through the carefully woven defence of the Eagles marshaled by Troost Ekong, Aina, Omeruo and Bassey.
Earlier, the Angola became the first African nation to qualify for the quarter-finals. They defeated Namibia by a 3-0 goal margin.
